Description:
  • Located around the two banks of the Ropotamo River, whose course passes along large sand dunes to its confluence with the Black Sea.
  • On its territory there are many unique natural sites – estuary and floodplain of the river Ropotamo with natural forests, natural sand dunes and beaches, deciduous forests with Mediterranean elements.
  • A deposit of sea wormwood has also been established in the reserve.
  • Within its borders is the Arkutino swamp, where water lily, water lentil, yellow water rose, reed, rush and reed grow.
  • The fauna is represented by 21 species of mammals such as wild boar, roe deer, red deer, jackal, fox, goldfinch, otter, over 10 species of bats, 260 species of birds, including white stork, sea eagle and half-white flycatcher, various species of herons, ducks, little cormorant.
  • Part of the reserve are the rock formations “Lion’s Head” and “Merry Rock”, as well as the island of St. Thomas, better known as the Snake Island.
  • All human activity is prohibited in the reserve. Visits are made only on the designated and marked for this purpose 8 paths for visitors. All walking and water routes are marked with signs and information boards.
